Basler Firewire Software IEEE-1394a/IEEE-1394b Cameras

pylon Driver Package
 

The pylon driver package is designed to operate with all Basler cameras that have an IEEE 1394a, IEEE 1394b, or the new GigE Vision interface. Along with the new scout and pioneer camera families, the current A102f, A31xf, and A6xxf Basler camera series are supported by pylon. You can select a camera with the interface type that best fits the needs of your application, or you can simultaneously use cameras with both the IEEE 1394 and GigE interface technologies.

BCAM 1394 Driver
 

The Basler BCAM 1394 Driver is designed for use with cameras that connect to an IEEE 1394 bus. But unlike other products, the Basler BCAM 1394 Driver supports the special features available on Basler Firewire cameras such as test images and shading correction.

The Basler BCAM 1394 Driver is available as a freely available run time version or as a complete software development kit (SDK) that can be purchased with a Basler 1394 camera.

The Basler BCAM 1394 Driver/SDK includes a fully functional driver for IEEE 1394 cameras along with a Software Development Kit. When the BCAM 1394 Driver is combined with a Basler IEEE 1394 camera, it offers users a low cost, plug and play solution.

The Basler Scout camera are GenICam compatible and will include an IEEE-1394 driver and GigE filter driver and a GigE performance driver. The Scout software  also implement a newly designed image viewer.

The core of GenICam is a description of the camera's properties in a an XML descriptor file. Using this file, a translator can directly generate C++ application programming interface (API) called GenAPI or the elements of a graphical user interface (GUI). This lets the easily identify the camera type as well as the features and functions available on the camera and the parameters associated with each camera function. Future extensions of the GenICan will also provide mechanisms for grabbing and streaming images from the camera. The proposed GigE Vision standard stipulates that cameras must provide the XML descriptor file. A descriptor file for IEEE-1394 compliant cameras will be available as well.
