Offering a dramatic leap forward in performance, cost effectiveness, and compact size, Sony's XCD-X700 joins the Sony IEEE-1394 digital camera family. The XCD-X700 weighs only 250g with dimensions of just 44 x 33 x 116 mm (WxHxD). The XCD-X700 offers high imaging resolution, and an easy-to-use asynchronous electronic shutter function, making it ideal for quality-critical imaging applications with the added benefit of simple, high-speed connection to external PCs. The XCD-X700 employs a ½ type Progressive Scan CCD sensor with square pixels and offers excellent sensitivity. This camera delivers uncompressed, high-resolution digital 8-bit monochrome images. The output resolution of the XCD-X700 is 0.8 million pixels (1024x768) at 15 frames per second. glo_rightarrow_sm.gif (78 bytes) Download Data Sheet glo_pdflogo.gif (192 bytes)

Features and Benefits
Feature

Benefit

Compact and Lightweight:

Weighs only 9 oz.; Dimensions of just 2-1/4 (W) x 2 (H) x 4-3/8 (D) inches (55 x 50 x 110mm).
Partial Scan/Scalable Function:

Allows for the selection of a smaller rectangular portion of the full image for output to increase the frame rate or reduce the processing time; in addition, the smaller region of interest can be dynamically moved around the full CCD for electronic pan/tilt function
Asynchronous trigger and
electronic shutter function:

With an exposure range of 1/100000 to 2 seconds, the XCD-X700 can capture fast-moving objects clearly or image still objects in low light.
Simple one-cable connection:

A simple one cable connection links the camera to the computer for all image transfer, camera control/status, and power; several Sony cameras and/or other compatible cameras and devices can be connected via the IEEE-1394 bus.
Newly developed industrial 6-pin
IEEE-1394 connector:

Industrial 6 pin IEEE 1394 connector provides higher electromagnetic immunity and better mechanical resistance to shock and vibration in severe industrial environments compared to previously offered 6-pin IEEE 1394 connectors.
